With reference to quality issues beyond the cutting stage. Surface noise, sound change on the test/final pressing compared to test cuts/ acetates, and distortions heard when discs played on poor quality record stylus. |
|
* A common misconception is that one cut and the processing of that cut is is all that is required to make the desired quality pressing. Statistically this isn¹t the case and occasionally, in order to achieve this, there is the need to re-cut and re-process. |
|
* There is no provision in these fixed prices for the Mastering Studio to
provide automatic free from charge re-cuts, should there be surface noise
or sound change problems due to the manufacturing process, or distortions
heard when playing cuts on a poor quality record stylus. |
|
* Pressing vinyl is a physical process prone to all manner of
complications and quality issues. The fixed prices do not reflect the true
cost of Vinyl Mastering, they are deliberately discounted to make
releasing records more affordable to smaller Independent Labels. |
|
| * A repeat cut is charged as time and materials. Re-processing at the
factory is an issue to be settled directly with the factory, if the
factory is not negligent then for the sake of quality you may have to be
prepared to pay for re-processing. |
|
* Where the factory admits liability, LOUD cannot invoice the factory
unless a purchase order is received for the re-cut. |
|
* Collection/delivery charges are the customer¹s responsibility. |
|
* A re-cut due to a cutting fault (jumping, sticking, damaged cutting
stylus) will be done free of charge. In the event of LOUD having to pay
for factory re-processing, payment will be made up to and including the "positive" stage. We consider that the responsibility to check and approve
the "positive", before making the stampers and test pressings, is that of
the factory. |
